The Story of Mariner Medical Center
Mariner Medical Center opened its doors in 1984, in the area then known as Fashion Island. The Center had three exam rooms, one doctor, one nurse and a receptionist at the start. It served the Foster City residential and business communities, experiencing growth every year.
In 1995 MMC relocated to Foster City in a space several times its original size. What followed was that MMC added more outstanding physicians, more exam rooms, x-ray services, an emergency care area, additional dedicated nursing and support staff. It became the most comprehensive, premier primary and urgent care clinic in Foster City.
After 12 years with a continually growing patient base MMC's existing facility reached its limit. The result was a move within Foster City to a beautifully appointed space at 1242 East Hillsdale Blvd. With that move MMC was able to open a Specialty Clinic. The result is a truly multi-specialty group practice serving the ever expanding healthcare needs of the area's population.
